When I moved to Whitebushes in 1988 I assumed it was a housing estate built on farmland with no real history. I had heard from a friend, who remembered visiting the area as a child, that her grandfather was the gardener at a large house. I wondered if the lake near my house was part of that large house and started looking to see what existed before the houses around Ivydene Close were built. Then a neighbour told me about Jordan Hospital and I realised there was more to the history of Whitebushes than I realised.
This site is what I have found so far and I am still working on researching the history. I have divided the site into four ‘ages’ for convenience, although these are fairly arbitrary divisions.
